Mandapeta (Telugu: ) is a town and a municipality in East Godavari district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Mandapeta was originally called "Mandavyapuram", and it got that name because of Sage Mandukya who is supposed to have stayed at this place for sometime. Sage Narada is supposed to have done "Prathisthapana" of the idol in "Janardhana Swamy Temple" popularly known as "Radham Gudi" today. Mandapeta is a regional commercial hub and trade center. Its famous in the surrounding villages and towns for its skilled goldsmiths. Most of the population is employed in Agriculture or related industries, but there is a sizeable population engaged in Trade and Small scale industries.
