Ratia is a city and a municipal committee in Fatehabad district in the Indian state of Haryana. Ratia is located at 2941N 7535E / 29.68N 75.58E / 29.68; 75.58. It has an average elevation of 210metres (688feet). The population of the town was 7,740 in 1971 as against 5,348 in 1961. Local traditions attribute the foundation of the town to Rattan Nath a sadhu with extraordinary powers who did meditation for years at this site and the town was named after him. 'The- town was deserted, during the famine of - 1783 but was resettled in 1816 by one Rattan Singh and the Patiala chief erected a fort and an outposts.
