BIOGRAPHY

Catherine Elise Blanchett professionally known as Cate Blanchett made her debut as an actor in the film Parklands (1996). It was in 1998 she gained recognition as an actor with the film Elizabeth which gave her stardom. There was no turning back after that and Blanchett at present is considered a very bankable star. She has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to her credit. Her maiden award was the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards for Best Supporting Actress for Thank God He Met Lizzie which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Blanchetts career so far are The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001–2003), Paradise Road (1997), Oscar and Lucinda (1997), The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), An Ideal Husband (1999), Little Fish (2005), Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), The Hobbit trilogy (2012–2014), and Oceans 8 (2018) to name a few. Blanchett, daughter of June Gamble and Robert DeWitt Blanchett Jr. was born on 14 May 1969 in the Melbourne suburb of Ivanhoe. She attended Ivanhoe Girls Grammar School and Methodist Ladies College. She then studied economics and fine arts at the University of Melbourne but dropped out after one year to travel overseas. In 2007 Time magazine named her as one of the 100 most influential people in the world and she was ranked among the highest-paid actresses in the world in 2018.
