Thomas Jeffrey Hanks professionally known as Tom Hanks made his debut as an actor in the film He Knows Youre Alone (1980). It was in 1984 he rose to fame with the film Splash which gave him stardom. He has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to his credit. His maiden award was the Saturn Awards for Best Actor for Big which has since been followed by many more. Hanks son of Janet Marylyn and Amos Mefford Hanks on born July 9, 1956, in Concord, California. He attended Skyline High School in Oakland, California. He then studied theater at Chabot College in Hayward, California, and transferred to California State University, Sacramento after two years. He received a Kennedy Center Honor, in 2014 and Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in 2016. He also received the French Legion of Honor in 2016.
