Chihayafuru Part II is a 2016 Japanese-language Comedy Drama movie directed by Norihiro Koizumi and produced by Ky Hei Sudate under the banner of Nippon TV in collaboration with Toho, Kodansha, Robot Communications, Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation, Dentsu, East Japan Marketing & Communications, KDDI Corporation, GyaO, Sapporo Television Broadcasting, Miyagi Television Broadcasting, Shizuoka Daiich. Chihaya is a high school student who learns that her childhood friend who went back to Fukui Prefecture, doesn't play Karuta anymore. Believing they will meet again, Chihaya and her close friend start a Karuta club at their high school. Chihayafuru part ii stars Suzu Hirose in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Sh Hei Nomura, Mackenyu, Mone Kamishiraishi, Y Ma Yamoto, Y Ki Morinaga and Hiroya Shimizu. The screenplay is written by Norihiro Koizumi which is inspired from Chihayafuru by Yuki Suetsugu. The music was composed by Masaru Yokoyama. The film has a running time of 111 minutes. It was released on 19th March 2016. The movie made a box office gross of ¥179 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Toho.
