Child 44 is a 2015 English-language Crime Drama movie written by Richard Price and directed by Daniel Espinosa and produced by Michael Schaefer, Greg Shapiro and Ridley Scott under the banner of Worldview Entertainment in collaboration with Scott Free Productions. Based on the first of a trilogy by Tom Rob Smith and set in the Stalin era of the Soviet Union. The plot is about an idealistic pro-Stalin security officer who decides to investigate a series of child murders in a country where supposedly this sort of crime doesn't exist. The state would not hear of the existence of a child murderer let alone a serial killer. He gets demoted and exiled but decides, with just the help of his wife, to continue pursuing the case. Written by Arnold. Child 44 features Tom Hardy in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Gary Oldman, Noomi Rapace, Joel Kinnaman, Paddy Considine, Jason Clarke and Vincent Cassel. The screenplay is written by Richard Price which is inspired from Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith. The music was composed by Jon Ekstrand. Cinematography was done by Oliver Wood and editing by Pietro Scalia and Dylan Tichenor. The film has a running time of 137 minutes. It was released on 16th April 2015. Child 44 was made on a budget of $50 million and at the box office it grossed only $12 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Summit Entertainment.
