Dead Calm is a 1989 English-language Horror Thriller motion picture directed by Phillip Noyce and produced by Doug Mitchell, George Miller and Terry Hayes under the banner of Kennedy Miller. An Australian couple take a sailing trip in the Pacific to forget about a terrible accident. While on the open sea, in dead calm, they come across a ship with one survivor who is not at all what he ms. Written by Loring Holden. Dead calm features Sam Neill in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Nicole Kidman, Billy Zane, Rod Mullinar, Joshua Tilden, George Shevtsov and Michael Long. The screenplay is written by Terry Hayes which is inspired from Dead Calm by Charles Williams. The music was composed by Graeme Revell. Cinematography was done by Dean Semler and editing by Richard Francis-Bruce. The film has a running time of 95 minutes. It was released on 7th April 1989. Dead Calm was made on a budget of $10 million and at the box office it grossed only $7 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Roadshow Entertainment.
