Kartavya is a 1979 Hindi-language Action Drama movie written by S. Ali Raza and directed by Mohan Segal and Mohan Sehgal and produced by Mohan Segal. Vijay Kumar, a forest officer returns to the forest where his dad met an untimely end. Will his secret plan to snare poachers succeed? Sandalwood, ivory,animal hides and raw power is at the nexus of money and corruption. Kartavya features Dharmendra in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Vinod Mehra, Utpal Dutt, Aruna Irani, Ranjeet, Nirupa Roy and Suresh Oberoi. The music was composed by Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar along with Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma and Laxmikant Pyarelal. It was released on 11th May 1979. Kartavya was made on a budget of ₹3 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹3 crore.
