Koe no katachi is a 2016 Japanese-language Animation Drama film directed by Naoko Yamada and produced by Eharu Hashi, Shinichi Nakamura, Mikio Uetsuki, Toshio Iizuka and Kensuke Tateishi under the banner of Kyoto Animation. The story revolves around Nishimiya Shoko, a grade school student who has impaired hearing. She transfers into a new school, where she is bullied by her classmates, especially Ishida Shouya. It gets to the point where she transfers to another school and as a result, Shouya is ostracized and bullied himself, with no friends to speak to and no plans for the future. Years later, he sets himself on a path to redemption. Written by Ariodito Koestoer. Koe no katachi stars Miyu Irino in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Saori Hayami, Aoi Y Ki, Kensh Ono, Y Ki Kaneko, Yui Ishikawa and Megumi Han. The screenplay is written by Reiko Yoshida which is inspired from A Silent Voice by Yoshitoki ima. The music was composed by Kensuke Ushio. Cinematography was done by Kazuya Takao and editing by Kengo Shigemura. The film has a running time of 130 minutes. It was released on 9th March 2017. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Shochiku.
