Mrigayaa is a 1977 Bengali-language Drama film written by Mrinal Sen, Arun Kaul and Mohit Chattopadhyay. The movie is directed by Mrinal Sen and produced by K. Rajeshwara Rao. In the 1930s, a group of tribals live in a small village in a forest in Odisha. A British administrator arrives at the village who is passionate about hunting. He befriends Ghinua, an exceptional archer. Mrigayaa stars Mithun Chakraborty in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Mamata Shankar, Robert Wright, Sadhu Meher, Ajit Banerjee, Samit Bhanja and Shekhar Chatterjee. The movie is based on Shikar by Bhagabati Charan Panigrahi. The music was composed by Salil Choudhury along with Salil Chowdhury. Cinematography was done by K. K. Mahajan and editing by Gangadhar Naskar, , Raju Naik and Dinkar Shetye. It was released on 6th June 1976 in Bengali and Hindi languages.
