Gourang Chakraborty is professionally known as Mithun Chakraborty made his debut as a lead actor in the film Mrigayaa (1976). It was not until 1982 he got his first commercial hit with the movie Disco Dancer. He has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to his credit. His maiden award was the National Film Award for Best Actor for Mrigayaa which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Mithuns career so far are Disco Dancer (1982), Pyar Jhukta Nahin (1985), Avinash (1986), Agneepath (1990), Tahader Katha (1992), The Don (1995), Jallaad (1995), and Swami Vivekananda (1998) to name a few. Mithun son of Basantokumar Chakraborty and Santirani Chakraborty was born on 16 June 1950 in Kolkata. He completed his schooling at Oriental Seminary in Kolkata. He pursued his bachelors degree in Chemistry from Scottish Church College, Kolkata. He then attended and graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.
