North Country is a 2005 English-language Drama film written by Michael Seitzman, Clara Bingham and Laura Leedy. The movie is directed by Niki Caro and produced by Nick Wechsler under the banner of Participant Productions in collaboration with Industry Entertainment and Nick Wechsler Productions. A fictionalized account of the first major successful sexual harassment case in the United States -- Jenson vs. Eveleth Mines, where a woman who endured a range of abuse while working as a miner filed and won the landmark 1984 lawsuit. North country stars Charlize Theron, Frances Mcdormand, Sean Bean, Richard Jenkins, Jeremy Renner, Michelle Monaghan and Troy Starr. The film is based on Class Action by Clara Bingham and Laura Leedy Gansler. The music was composed by Gustavo Santaolalla. Cinematography was done by Chris Menges and editing by David Coulson. The film has a running time of 126 minutes. It was released on 2nd February 2006. North Country was made on a budget of $35 million and at the box office it grossed only $25 million. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Warner Bros.
