The Age of Innocence is a 1993 English-language Drama Romance movie written by Edith Wharton, Jay Cocks and Martin Scorsese. The movie is directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Barbara De Fina. A tale of nineteenth-century New York high society in which a young lawyer falls in love with a woman separated from her husband, while he is engaged to the woman's cousin. The age of innocence stars Daniel Day-lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Winona Ryder, Linda Faye Farkas, Michael Rees Davis, Terry Cook and John Maczko. The screenplay is written by Jay Cocks and Martin Scorsese which is inspired from The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton. The music was composed by Elmer Bernstein. Cinematography was done by Michael Ballhaus and editing by Thelma Schoonmaker. The film has a running time of 139 minutes. It was released on 10th September 1993. The Age of Innocence was made on a budget of $34 million and at the box office it grossed only $32 million. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Columbia Pictures. At the 1994 Oscar Awards It won an award for Best Costume Design.
