Battleship Potemkin is a 1925 Silent-language Drama History movie written by Nina Agadzhanova, Sergei Eisenstein, Nikolai Aseyev and Sergei Tretyakov. The movie is directed by Sergei Eisenstein and produced by Jacob Bliokh under the banner of Mosfilm. Based on the historical events the movie tells the story of a riot at the battleship Potemkin. What started as a protest strike when the crew was given rotten meat for dinner ended in a riot. The sailors raised the red flag and tried to ignite the revolution in their home port Odessa. Written by Konstantin Dlutskii. Battleship potemkin features Aleksandr Antonov, Vladimir Barksy, Grigori Aleksandrov, Vladimir Barskiy, Grigoriy Aleksandrov, Ivan Bobrov and Aleksanteri Ahola-valo. The music was composed by Edmund Meisel along with Edison Studio. Cinematography was done by Eduard Tisse and Vladimir Popov and editing by Sergei Eisenstein and Grigori Aleksandrov. The movie has a running time of 75 minutes. It was released on 24th December 1925 in Silent film and Russian intertitles languages. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Goskino.
