The Muppets is a 2011 English-language Adventure Comedy film written by Jason Segel, Nicholas Stoller and Jim Henson. The movie is directed by James Bobin and produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman under the banner of Walt Disney Pictures in collaboration with Mandeville Films. A Muppet fanatic with some help from his two human compatriots must regroup the Muppet gang to stop an avaricious oil mogul from taking down one of their precious life-longing treasures. The muppets features Jason Segel in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones, Steve Whitmire, Eric Jacobson and Dave Goelz. The motion picture is based on Disney's Muppet characters and properties. The music was composed by Christophe Beck. Cinematography was done by Don Burgess and editing by James Thomas. The motion picture has a running time of 103 minutes. It was released on 8th December 2011 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. The Muppets was made on a budget of $45 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $165 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Walt Disney Studios. At the 2012 Oscar Awards It won an award for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song.
