Silence is a 2016 English-language Adventure Drama motion picture written by Jay Cocks and Martin Scorsese. The movie is directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Irwin Winkler, Martin Scorsese, Barbara De Fina, Randall Emmett, Vittorio Cecchi Gori and Gast N Pavlovich. The story of two Catholic missionaries (Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver) who face the ultimate test of faith when they travel to Japan in search of their missing mentor (Liam Neeson) - at a time when Catholicism was outlawed and their presence forbidden. Silence stars Andrew Garfield in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Adam Driver, Tadanobu Asano, Ciar N Hinds, Liam Neeson, Ciaran Hinds and Issei Ogata. The screenplay is written by Jay Cocks and Martin Scorsese which is inspired from Silence by Sh saku End. The music was composed by Kim Allen Kluge along with Kathryn Kluge. Cinematography was done by Rodrigo Prieto and editing by Thelma Schoonmaker. The motion picture has a running time of 161 minutes. It was released on 9th February 2017 in English and Japanese languages. Silence was made on a budget of $40 million and at the box office it grossed only $23 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Paramount Pictures.
